Homemade Tips:

1. Apply a mixture of mashed banana and honey on the face and neck. Gently rub in circular motion and downwards to upward motion to give a parlor massaging effect. You can have this method done in every alternate day to get fair, smooth and glowing skin naturally.
2. Don’t waste the bread, just tidbit it and mix with milk cream. Apply this mixture and leave it for 8-10 minutes. Rub gently to remove them and wash the face to get glow from within.
3. Take Potato or tomato along with honey and apply on skin. Massage gently till dry which will take 15 minutes and wash it off. This will make your skin glow even in summers.
4. Take sunflower seeds (Hindi: Chirongi) and raw milk, soak them overnight and grind them into fine paste in the morning. Add pinch of turmeric and saffron in the paste and apply all over the face and neck (hands or legs). Just rest for 15-20 minutes and they wash it off. This tip will be very effective for dark skin and bring glow naturally and stay for long.
5. Half a tbsp of cinnamon with 2 tbsp of honey and apply on skin for fairy glow.
6. Milk (or curd) and orange peel, ground to puree and lightly rub on skin and massage circularly for not more than 10 minutes.
7. Natural oils are very essential for us and to collecting all of them are not an easy task, but those are available nearby you can be used to enhance your beauty. Oils like olive oil, jojoba oil, almond oil, rosemary oil etc are good for smooth and shiny skin. If you have oily skin you must not use them more than 2-3 drops. Some breast cancer symptoms

There are two types of risk factors that are involved in the development of breast cancer. The first one includes those that are related to the lifestyle and can be controlled. Risk factors that can’t be controlled

Gender: Women are more prone to breast cancer than men. Well, men may be affected by breast cancer, but instances are extremely rare.

Age: The chances of breast cancer increase with the age. In fact, 2 out 3 women with breast cancer are more 55 years of age or older.

Genetic factors: 5 to 10 percent of breast cancers are believed to be caused by the inherited changes or mutation in genes. The most common mutations are of BRCA1 and 2 genes. Women who have these genes have as much as 80% chance of breast cancer. There are other gene changes that may cause breast cancer as well.

Medical history: Women whose close blood relatives have breast cancer have higher chances of breast cancer. If one’s mother, daughter or sister has breast cancer, the chances of the disease increases twice. Still, most of the women who have breast cancer don’t have anyone affected by it in their family. A woman who has a cancer in one breast is at a greater risk of developing cancer in another breast as well.

Race: studies have shown that the white women are at a greater risk of having breast cancer. However, the African-American women have a greater tendency to die once they have breast cancer. Asian, Native American and Hispanic women too, have less chance of breast cancer.

Causes related to lifestyle

There are some breast cancer causes that are related to the lifestyle choices of a woman. Therefore, they can be controlled as well.

Use of birth control pills: According to some studies, women using birth control pills have greater risks of breast cancer. However, once they stop taking the pills, the risk starts to reduce and eventually go back to normal.

Pregnancy related issue: Women who never have a child have an increased risk of breast cancer. Similarly, women who have their first child after the age of 30 have greater risks of breast cancer. On the other if someone is pregnant many times or at a low age, the chances of breast cancer are reduced.

The stages of breast cancer are established based of the following factors:

1. Location and size of breast cancer
2. The severity of cancer (i.e. if it has spread to different tissues)
3. Whether the tumor is invasive or not

The survival rate of cancer also depends upon it stage. If the patient is on first stage then the chances of survival are far more than that of the forth stage.

Below are the different stages and their effects on patient’s health:

Stage 0

This stage is the most stable stage of the disease. If a person is detected with breast cancer at stage 0 then there are 90% chances of the patient surviving. Cancer cells at stage are at their original position and have not started spreading at all. DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) is a type of breast cancer that is at stage 0. This type is non-invasive and irregular cells are found in the lining of the breast duct. The disease should be treated immediately at this stage, so that it doesn’t grow any further and become sever.

Stage 1:

At this particular stage the cancer has been formed and the tumor is detected. It is described as an invasive form. Stage 1 can be divided into two stages 1A and 1B.

At stage 1A the cancer is tumor is found and measures to approximately 2cm. at this stage the cells have not start spreading to any area outside.

At stage 1B the tumor is found and very little clusters of cancer cells are found in the lymph nodes. But these cells do not measure more than 1mm.

Stage II:

Stage II again is divided into two sub stage

IA: At this stage the there are possibilities that

• On detection, tumor will be found on in the breast but has not started spreading on the areas outside.
• The tumor is smaller in size i.e. around 2cm, but small clutters of cancer cells have spread on the lymph nodes.
• The tumor size is between 2cm to 5 cm, but has not start spreading yet.

Stage IIB: This again is invasive breast cancer, which includes:

• The tumor size has increased from 2cm but is less than 5cm. at this phase the tumor has also started spreading on the lymph nodes.
• The tumor size has increased to more than 5cm but it has not yet spread to the lymph nodes.

Stage III:

This stage 3 again is sub divided in to three parts:

Stage IIIA: The possibilities include:

• The cancer is not found in the breast, but is found on the lymph nodes which are bunched together.
• The cancer is found I the breast and also in the lymph nodes which are in cluster.

Stage IIIB: This stage is considered as inflammatory breast cancer and the possibilities are that:

• The cancer is found in the breast and can be of any size. It has also spread to the chest wall and the adjacent tissues. Also it may have spread to the auxiliary lymph nodes.

Stage IIIC: At this stage the chances are that:

• Either there may be no sign of tumor in the breast or the tumor may be found in the breast and also on the breast wall and tissues.
• The cancer cells must have spread to the auxillary lymph nodes that are present over or underneath the collarbone and also near the breastbone.

Stage IV: This is the most severe stage and chances of survival at this phase is quite rear.

• The cancer cells must have spread to various other organs of the body mostly lungs, liver and brain.

There are two most common types of the breast cancers that are named after the areas in the breast from where the start.

Ductal Carcinoma

This type of cancer starts in the cells that line the ducts in the breast beneath the areola and nipple. The ducts carry the milk from the glands to the nipple. Almost 90% of the breast cancers start in these ducts. However, if the cancer is Ductal carcinoma in situ, the chances of success with proper treatment is very high. Generally, the tumor is removed during lumpectomy. Sometimes, additional treatments like radiation, chemotherapy or mastectomy are required.

Lobular Carcinoma

This is another very common type of breast cancer that starts in the lobs or glands that produce the milk. These glands are situated in deeper in the breast below the ducts. Around 8% of the breast cancers are of this type. In lobular carcinoma in situ, the cancer does not spread beyond the lobe. This too can be removed in lumpectomy. Some of the cases require chemotherapy, mastectomy, or radiation.

Apart from these two types of cancers, there are some cancers that are more aggressive. They tend to invade in the surrounding tissues and thereby spread the cancer quickly.

Invasive Breast Cancer

Also known as the infiltrating breast cancer, it is the second most common type of cancer and it has the capability of spreading beyond the original tumor and infiltrate other parts of the body. This cancer can be of different types and subtypes. This type of cancer can start in ducts or lobs.

Less known types of breast cancers

There are some types of breast cancers that are rare. However, some of them are extremely aggressive and dangerous.

Inflammatory Breast Cancer

This is the rarest types of breast cancer and at the same time, this is the most aggressive type as well. It takes the form of nests instead of the lumps that are common. It can appear on the skin or just beneath it. The primary treatment for this type of cancer is chemotherapy. It can be manageable if caught at the early stages.

Paget’s disease

Another rare instance is the cancer in the nipple. This is called Paget’s disease after famous doctor Sir James Paget. The cancer generally looks like a rough skin or rash. Sometimes, it can be itchy as well. It is generally treated with mastectomy.

Apart from that, there are some types of breast cancers that are extremely rare. For instance, there are the triple negative breast cancers and the mixed tumors. There is also the medullary carcinoma, metaplastic carcinoma, mucinous carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma and other special types of breast cancers.

What is a cancer?

Generally, the reason behind the cancer is the mutation or abnormal changes in the gene that control the growth of the cells. Normally, the cells of our body are replaced by newer ones. However, when mutation happens, it activates certain genes and blocks others. This results in the uncontrollable growth and division of cells which eventually result in tumor. If the tumor is malignant, it will spread rapidly and will become cancerous.

The normal breast

To understand the breast cancer, one must understand the structure of the breast. Normally, the female breasts consist of ducts or tubes that carry milk, lobules or glands that produce the milk, and stroma, a type of fatty tissue surrounding the ducts, blood vessels, and lobules. Though the breast cancer can start from any of these parts, in most of the cases, it starts from the ducts.

Cancer in the breast

In most of the cases, breast cancer spreads through the lymph system. The system consists of several parts. First of all, there are tiny lymph nodes that are connected with the lymphatic vessels. The lymph is generally made of tissue fluids, immune system cells and waste products. If the cancer cells enter here, it can grow in the lymph nodes. Generally, the lymphatic vessels of the breast connect to lymph nodes inside the chest, under the arm and below or above your collarbone.

Doctors pay much attention to detect whether the cancer has spread to lymph nodes. For, in that case, it has a greater chance to spread on other parts of the body. This chance will increase with the growing number of infected lymphatic nodes.

Stages of breast cancer

Breast cancer develops through several stages. Before starting its attack, the cancer cells generally stay within the breast duct. In the Stage I, the cancer can grow up to 2 cm. In the next stage called IIA, cancer cells are found in axillary lymph nodes and the size can be anywhere between 2 and 5 centimeters.

In the subsequent stages, the size of the cancer grows. Even in the IIIA stage of the cancer, the signs of cancer are not found in the breast. The tumor or inflammatory breast cancer has at least reached the IIIB stage to be recognized. As the time goes, the cancer grows to other lymph nodes near the collarbone or breastbone. If the cancer manages to reach Stage IV, it will then metastasized or spread in other parts of the body.

Breast lumps

It is important to note here that all breast lumps are not cancer. In fact, most of the breast lumps are benign. They are generally fibrocystic changes or other harmless developments. Still, they must be tested properly to be certain about their nature.

Tests to detect spread of cancer

Several imaging tests are performed to determine the progress of cancer. These tests are chest X ray , mammogram of both the breasts , bone scan ,CT (computed tomography scan), MRI(magnetic Resonance Imaging )and or PET(positron emission tomography)scans. Whether cancer has spread to other organs can be detected by blood tests.

Upon diagnosis of breast cancer these tests are done.

• Chest X ray- to show if breast cancer has affected your lungs.
• Mammogram-it is done to get more clear view of the breast.
• Bone scan- this is done to see whether the cancer has (metastasized) spread to the bones.
• CT scan-it is an xray test that gives detailed cross sectional body images.
• MRI scan it is often used to examine the breast with cancer to look for other tumors in opposite breast and other parts of the body.
• PET scan – for a pet scan, the patient is given a shot of glucose with radioactive atoms. Cancer cells absorb the glucose. A camera then identifies the cancer affected body parts.

A staging system is a standard way to define how far cancer has spread in the body. A stage of the breast cancer is usually based on the results of the test described earlier together with results of any surgery. This staging system is important to judge the survival rate of satge4 breast cancer.

Cancer is classified by the cancer staging system called TN and M stages.

• These stages from 0-4 describe tumor size and spread.
• N stages from 0-3 describe whether the cancer has spread to lymph nodes near the breast.
• M stages 0-1 shows whether cancer has spread to other organs.

Characteristics of stage4 breast cancer

Stage 4 breast cancer is extremely aggressive and in most cases, surgery or chemotherapy or radiation treatments fail to stop them. This is an advanced stage of breast cancer. The cancer has metastasized to the bone tissue, liver and the lung tissue. The breast cancer stage4 has overwhelmed all the natural defense system of the body and has reached this stage.

Survival rate of stage 4 breast cancer

Survival rate for stage 4 breast cancer is very poor at present. The five year survival rate for stage 4 breast cancer is in the 16%to20%region. Statistics show that of all women in the United States , 5% of White women and nearly 10% of Black  women have breast cancer at an advanced stage, when first diagnosed. The survival rate of stage4 breast cancer is a mere 18 months after diagnosis. Early detection is the most important factor in breast cancer survival rate. Breast cancer detected in stage1 has a survival rate of 98%- 100%. While if detected at stage 4, the survival rate drops down to a dismal 16/5-20%.

Categories of stage3 breast cancer

In order to examine the survival rate of breast cancer in stage 3 we need to know the severity of all the stages of stage 3 breast cancer. The stage 3 breast cancer can be divided in to two categories- Stage 3A and Stage 3B. Doctors and surgeons have further classified more advanced stages of breast cancer stage 3 as Stage 3C breast cancer.
